Most of us know bathtub replacement involved days and sometimes weeks of labor. Last week I had a gentleman that purchased a bathtub and was amazed when he called to get quotes for installation ranging from $3200.00 to upwards of $5000.00. He did not take into consideration the fact that the tile (at least the first 2 - 3 rows would need to come down because of the lip of the bathtub that goes behind the tile wall. Also there was the problem of the door being too narrow and that would need to be widened before the new bathtub could be installed.
He had already purchased the bathtub and had it in the garage still in the box. When he contacted me I assured him I could make his old bathtub look new again and I explained to him that I do not use epoxy paint that will peel. He actually said he did not know what to do. He said he wanted it to last... he simply wanted it done right! I told him I back my work by an eight year warranty and I started Dallas bathtub services my senior year of high school in 1991. I went on to explain I don't use lacquer thinner or acetone to thin the coatings and explained those are cheap thinners that dry brittle in spots. I also do not use Aliphatic acrylic urethane nor do I use Epoxy paint like you see so much of with the D.I.Y. kits.
He had painted the tub with epoxy 6 months before and it was peeling up in the corners and about 9" along the bottom. So he assumed refinishing did not work. I explained what he did was bathtub painting, not bathtub refinishing.
It made me feel great when he said "I trust you, I trust that you will do it right" so I gave him the Dallas bathtub services prices and was able to complete the bathtub refinishing project the next day. I stayed an extra 30 minutes because he was so amazed at how great It looked. He called his wife. He could not believe the "extremely low odor" and the fact there was no dust. He appreciated these points because when he painted his tub before he said the smell was so bad he stopped and finished it the following day and he had paint all over the house. I knew he was telling the truth because I showed him the towel rack I cleaned up that had his paint dust all over it from 6 months earlier. I explained that I cleaned it up for him. It's just a great feeling when the customer is that happy! I love it! It makes me feel great to be appreciated like that.
